Galena

Steep slopes

Serious skiers let loose here

Famous for its deep powder, fully-featured terrain and fun-loving atmosphere, CMH Galena is the special zone to hit when your skills are sharp, and your skiing is strong. Stacked with challenging lines, the wicked terrain at Galena exists on a higher plane — it’s the epitome of next-level heli-skiing. Yet rather than feeling like an exclusive club, the cozy, rustic charm and relaxed, easygoing atmosphere of Galena Lodge make it an easy place to land (as does its proximity to Kelowna International Airport).

For guests seeking an expert-level rotation, few places rival Galena for its advanced skiing and snowboarding. We suggest you arrive in what’s known as the ‘Galena white room’ set to tackle deep powder terrain and steep, sustained lines. When you're ready for the challenge, CMH Galena is waiting for you.

CMH Galena
Big mountain

A freeride paradise

Step inside this wonderland where big mountain meets deep days. Galena’s steep Selkirk terrain with slopes of up to 50 degrees is more densely stacked with snow-ghosted trees, playful spines, endless pillow lines, cliffy drops and fluted features than any of our other tenures. In this above-and-below treeline paradise, our guides are keen to nudge guests into challenging shots, with many Galena skiers emerging in awe of the terrain they slayed during their trip. With access to such a terrain buffet — and a reliably deep snowpack — our expert-only area is the place where skiers and riders feel good pushing themselves to another level, while having an absolute blast in the process.

In 2017, professional snowboarder Travis Rice picked CMH Galena as his winter home base for four weeks, filming with Robin Van Gyn, Austen Sweetin and Bryan Fox in a mission to discover the true roots of snowboarding for the full-length-feature shred flick Depth Perception. While dropping the lines of a Red Bull athlete might not be in your immediate future, sampling a taste of the paradise these pro riders found and filmed is why the deeply committed journey to CMH Galena. Steep valleys, craggy alpine and featured lines are only part of the teaser here—but no matter your preference, a super-fun, big mountain canvas awaits in this sweet, sweet patch of the Selkirks.
