Powder Intro

Never gone heli-skiing? This is for you

Grow your backcountry powder skills

Experience true backcountry powder for your first time under the watchful direction of two professional guides. We love to introduce mountain wilderness skiing and snowboarding to those who are ready to graduate from resort skiing to heli-skiing. Three million acres is too much to keep all to ourselves.

Supportive environment

If you’re a strong intermediate to advanced resort skier or snowboarder who has dreamed of heli-skiing but has never experienced true backcountry conditions, welcome to Powder Intro! You’ll hit low-stress terrain where you can get a feel for the conditions and take your skiing or snowboarding skills to the next level at a relaxed to moderate pace.

Beat all your best days (ever!) at any resort. Cruise through open alpine terrain mixed with spaced trees and traverses — no crazy steeps or too-tricky trees, but enough terrain variation to challenge yourself in a learning environment. Get a feel for out-of-bounds skiing in a supportive group and in friendly terrain, without taming the ecstatic feeling of heli-skiing. It’s the perfect introduction.

Group Size

Customized groups of up to

4-10 guests + 2 guides

On a typical Powder Intro Trip at CMH, you’ll get to ski or ride in personalized groups of just 10 guests or less, plus 2 guides. There is also a Small-Group option exclusive to CMH Adamants with just 4 guests and 2 guides. When you think about sharing resort groomers with up to 20,000 skiers on any given Saturday, either option is a magic number.

Helicopter

Daily flights in a

Bell 212 or A-Star B3

Most of our Powder Intro trips use the powerful Bell 212 — the classic machine that heli-skiing was built on. If you’re booking a Small-Group Powder Intro at CMH Adamants, you’ll fly in the more compact A-Star B3.

Skiable Terrain

CMH has exclusive access to:

3,000,000 acres

CMH's total terrain is bigger than all North American ski areas put together. That’s not a typo. Our exclusive three-million-acre territory is 20x larger than all the combined chairlift skiing on the continent. Woah. It would likely take several years to ski all our runs more than once — but we’re happy to help you try. Just throwin’ the challenge out there.

Average vertical

On an average 7-day trip, expect to ski & ride up to:

30,500m / 100,000 ft

On a 7-day CMH Powder Intro Trip, you'll log around 70,000 - 100,000 vertical feet of skiing and riding, which is a few dozen heli rides worth of “Yewwwwww!” (This amount will vary based on trip length, run length, group dynamics, weather, etc.) Fun fact: to log the same amount of vertical at a resort, you’d have to spend 6-7 hours in a lift line and take double the number of chairlift rides. Heli, please.
